Message from the Superintendent: Special Meeting of the School Board

Dear parents/caregivers:

Having carefully reviewed the plan that was unveiled by the governor yesterday, I have scheduled a special meeting of the school board on Tuesday, August 4 so they can act on my recommendation to start the school year in the hybrid model for all grades, PreK-12. This recommendation aligns with Hennepin County data about virus activity and guidance from the state health and education departments.

I know you desire as much information as possible, so I will continue to update you as our plans evolve. For now, I want you to know that my intention is to start school in the hybrid model. If you prefer a 100% distance learning option, remember to sign up for the optional Distance Learning Academy by 9 p.m. on August 9 [updated 8/7: new deadline is 9 pm, Wednesday, August 12]. If your high school child needs transportation this year, please also complete our transportation request form (grades 9-12 only) by 9 p.m. on August 9.

Please review the information I emailed you yesterday for more information about the two choices.

Stay safe, and have a good weekend.

Cory McIntyre
